When Things Go Missing: spaces between 2013-2019
Several years ago, in a single day, a series of tornados moved through the American south. My connection to this place and event is tentative but nonetheless linked. As a result of these storms, and the realization that this was an event witnessed and not experienced I set out to make, not a literal document of the damage, but photographs that explore the issue of losing things; the transitory nature of all things. In the resultant photographs, the presumed narrative qualities or the anecdotal aspects of the photographs do not interest me, but more the "picture" qualities, the poetic, and the open ended gray areas of signification in the photographs; the space between recognition and acceptance.
